School student council looks to purchase mascot gear

The Tucumcari Rattlers may soon have a new mascot.
“It’s been about six years since the school has had a mascot,” said Michael Martinez, student council president.

The Rattlers’ Student Council is asking for donations from local clubs and businesses to raise about $3,500 to purchase a costume, said Martinez.

The costume was used at a college, but the company that originally constructed the costume will refurbish it for that price, he said.

If the costume, were purchased new it would cost $5,700, Martinez said.
