The new manager selected for The Arch Hurley Conservancy District is Bill Conrad of Logan.

Conrad, who is currently a building trades instructor at Mesalands Community College, was selected three to two by Arch Hurley’s Board of Directors at a special meeting on Monday.

Conrad will receive a salary of $45,000 a year, said Larry Perkins, board chairman.

Conrad, who is originally from Kansas, worked for 16 years as a county extension agent in southwest Kansas and managed the irrigation research field at the Tribune Experiment Station for three years, according to his letter of interest sent to the board.

He received his master’s in business administration from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan., and bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.

Prior to working at Mesalands, Conrad was the marketing manager for Air-Lock Log Homes Southwest and the owner of a specialty insurance company in Liberal, Kan., Conrad said.

Board members voting in favor of Conrad were David Foote, John Gilbertson and Tom Bruhn. Opposed were U.V. Henson and Perkins.
