The Tucumcari Rattlers won 75-62 against the Floyd Broncos and the Lady Rattlers fell 57-39 to the Lady Broncos Friday night at their basketball homecoming in Tucumcari.

The Rattlers drive and pace was key in Friday night’s 75-62 homecoming victory. They managed to maintain almost a 19 point lead through the first three periods.

Seniors Josh Villegas and Drew White, junior Andrez Apodaca and sophomore Curtis Simpson led the Rattlers scoring drives to maintain their lead. White led four Rattlers in double figures with 18 points. Simpson and Villegas each had 16, while Andrez Apodaca added 12.

The Broncos rallied in the fourth and in the final minutes a scoring frenzy brought the Broncos within 8 – the closest they had come all night.

The Rattlers maintained their composure and in the end extended their lead once more.

Jesus Davalos scored a game-high 33 for Floyd, which Chet Chanault scored 11 and Shawn Antencio added 10.

The Lady Rattlers’ missed field goal opportunities were costly. They missed 20 field goals while Floyd only missed 6. The Lady Rattlers stayed within 6 points through the first three periods but fouls and missed free throws kept them from closing the gap.

Alexis Benoit scored 15 points to lead Tucumcari, with Cassie Breshear adding 12.

Samantha Montana scored 15 to lead Tucumcari.
