Irene Quintana Triviz, daughter of Angel and Dolores Quintana of Tucumcari, graduated Dec. 15, 2006 from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She took a minor in business management. She is currently working in Albuquerque. Dolores Quintana said, “We are very proud of her. She made it.” Giving Irene Triviz a congratulatory hug is husband Gabriel Triviz.
Studio now open…
Artist Nelda Smith’s “Colors of My Soul Studio” workspace is now open as the satellite component of the Eastern New Mexico ArtSpace. The studio is at 205 S. Second St.
Smith said it’s also the gathering place for artists and houses an art library and gallery space.

Local students honored..
Five students from the Tucumcari area and attending Eastern New Mexico University are among 588 students on the 2006 fall semester Dean’s Honor Roll.
To be eligible, students must complete a minimum of 15 hours and maintain a 3.25 grade point average for the semester.
The following are the students’ names, graduating high schools and majors: Brandi Simone Arenas, Tucumcari High School (THS), special education; Sarah L. Burson, THS, agriculture; Chris Aaron Garcia, THS, elementary education; Jamie N. Jones, THS, early childhood education; and Katie M. Pool, San Jon High School, religion.
Newspaper drive set…
The monthly Girl Scout newspaper drive will be at 9 a.m. to noon today at Mesalands Community College on 11th Street. The newspaper drives are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month. For information, call Donna Lauriault at 461-4421.
