The Rattlers wrestling team came away with twin champions. Brian Lopez won 1st place in the 215 pound class and Raymond Jimenez took first place in the 103 pound class at the Sierra Blanca Invite at Ruidoso.

The Rattlers finished in sixth place with 101 points
“I won my first three matches in the first period,” said Jimenez. “My final match went all the way through the third period and I won the match by four.”

Lopez said, “I wrestled against the 4A state runner up and pinned him in the third. There were a lot of good teams there from all over the state. It was a good competition.”
“We did good last weekend,” said Coach Eddie Encinias.

“We had some guys lose their match by only a few points. I said that the third period was important and that is where the guys won their matches. We only have eight practices left in the season and we are going to work hard and not let up.”
The Rattlers next invite is at 8 a.m. on Saturday the district tournament at Las Vegas.
