The Tucumcari Rattlers wrestling team is state bound.
All of the team members qualified for the state competition, set for this weekend in Rio Rancho.
The Rattlers will compete at noon on Friday for the New Mexico State Wrestling championship at the Santa Ana Star Center.
“I am really impressed with how they all did,” said coach Eddie Encinias. “Cameron Manning and Matt Garcia had their best matches at the district invite in Las Vegas (Saturday). I have told the guys from the first day of practice it’s all about state. And all that we have worked for is now here in front of us.”
Brian Lopez (215) and Ryan Fought (135) each won district in their weight class. Garcia (140), Manning (119) and Josh Enriquez (heavy weight) each placed as district runners-up.
