Iris L. Cogdill, 63, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, in Azle, Texas.
Ms. Cogdill was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Clovis, N.M. She graduated from Texas Christian University, where she received her degree in education. She started her teaching career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where she taught Navajo children on an Indian Reservation in New Mexico.
Ms. Cogdill, who was a resident of Azle, always sought opportunities to teach underprivileged children and her legacy is being lived out in the lives of the innumerable children that she touched, her family said.
Survivors include her brother, Trenton C. (Lydia) Cogdill of Bedford, Texas; sister, Jeanette C. Baker of Azle; aunt, Donah Cooper of Tucumcari ; uncle, Hershell (Julie) Cogdill of Albuquerque ; cousins, John I. (Jan) Cooper of Buckhorn, N.M., and Reba (Dick) O’Riley of Tucumcari; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
