Outstanding student…
Candance Harris, 21, of Tucumcari, was named one of the University of Northern Colorado’s outstanding students as a Next Scholar.
Next Scholars are UNC students who have at least a 3.5 grade point average in the fall semester. The students were honored at a UNC reception in February.
Candance, a junior, is studying communicative disorders and plans to earn her degree in speech pathology.
The 2004 graduate of Tucumcari High School is the daughter of Connie Harris and Jack Huntley of Tucumcari.

New niece in family…
Uncle Drew White of Tucumcari is proud to announce the birth of his niece, Caylee Danae Benavidez. Caylee was born March 7, 2007 at 10:19 a.m. in Lubbock Texas. She weighed 8 pounds, three ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.  Her parents are Dana and Patrick Benavidez of Portales. Maternal grandparents are Ellen and Ben White of Tucumcari.  Paternal grandparents are Christine and Pablo Benavidez of Tucumcari. Great Grandpa is Joe Baca also of Tucumcari.  Additional uncles, aunts and cousins living in Tucumcari are anxious to begin the spoiling process, said grandmother, Ellen White.

Celebrating No. 4…
Garrett Bollinger celebrated his fourth birthday on Feb. 28 with family and friends here in Tucumcari. Garrett was born in Clovis. His parents are Justin and Kerri Bollinger of Tucumcari. He has one brother, Greyson Bollinger. His grandparents are Darrel and Brenda Bollinger of Clovis and Mona Rutter of Logan. Garrett’s great-grandparents are Jonnie and Velma Bollinger of Clovis, and Joyce Brown of Levelland, Texas.

One year of Arianna…
Arianna Natalie Montano celebrated her first birthday on Jan. 11, 2007 with a party at Pied Piper Pizza in Albuquerque. Arianna is the daughter of Keith and Cecilia Montano of Albuquerque, where her dad is a kindergarten teacher and her mom is to graduate in May from UNM with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Her grandparents are Angel and Dolores Quintana of Tucumcari and Cindy Montano and the late Louie Montano of Albuquerque.
