Services: 11 a.m., Thursday a memorial service will be conducted at the Dunn Memorial Chapel in Tucumcari.
Douglas E. Bartlett, 48, age died Sunday, April 1, 2007, following an extended illnesses with heart disease, multiple sclerosis and lung cancer.
He was born Dec. 13, 1958 in Jonesboro, Ark. He was a published poet having won several national awards and had been honored in 2001 at a national recognition banquet in Santa Fe. He was a excellent horseman and loved trail riding with his many friends.
Surviving Mr. Bartlett are his life partner, Richard Willis of Tucumcari, his father Robert Bartlett of Lincoln, Ark., five sisters, Joyce Stout of Truman, Ark., Janet Hodshire of San Jon, N.M., Susie Davis of Bebee, Ark., Jenny Daniels of Tulsa, Okla., and Charlotte Mott of Swifton, Ark., two brothers Bobby Bartlett of Lincoln and James Bartlett of Bard, N.M., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Hooper-Bartlett, and by his sister, Mary Bartlett.
Darrell Sullivan, minister of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
