More steps were put in place for the start-up of the North American Wind Research Training Center (NAWRTC) on Tuesday by the MesaLands Community College Board of Trustees.
The board agreed to recruit and fill the the positions of Director of the NAWRTC and a wind energy technician/instructor.
Also, “This week we are going to begin bidding for the wind turbine for our research center,” said Phillip O. Barry, president of Mesalands. “We are looking to fill the positions for the research personnel in an effort to have our first classes in the research center in the fall of 2008.”
Other items approved by the board.
• A new college seal for Mesalands designed by John Yearout, director of public relations.
“All colleges have a seal that appears on their transcripts. diplomas and other papers. This seal will help to identify Mesalands as an institute of higher learning.”
• Title changes of recruiter/student services specialist to recruiter and academic advisor/student services to counselor.
• Hiring of a grant coordinator in order to update and keep track of the colleges grant approvals and project.
