Manuel Gracia

Services: 7 p.m., Thursday a rosary will be recited at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari. 10 a.m., Friday a mass of resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne’s.
Manuel Garcia, 89, died on Monday, April 16, 2007, at the Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, following an extended illness.

Mr. Garcia was born Dec. 18, 1917 at  Reuvelto, N.M.

He was a member of the St. Anne’s Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and attained the rank of corporal.  He was retired from the city of Tucumcari where he worked as a carpenter.
Surviving Mr. Garcia are: his wife Juanita Garcia of Tucumcari; seven daughters: Patricia Lopez of Roswell, N.M, Aurora (Don) Rollins of Orlando, Fla. , Linda (Jerry) Templar of Denton, Texas, Mercy Lopez, Lucy (Eddie) Jimenez, CeCe (Ralph) Arias and Julie (Manuel) Martinez Manuel, all of Tucumcari; five sons, Manuel (Rachael) Garcia, Jr. and and John (Sandy) Garcia, both of Albuquerque,  Tony (Diane) Encinias of Orlando, David (Ruby) Lopez of Tucumcari and George (Karla) Lopez of Junction City, Kan., and 36 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Julia Garcia of Salt Lake City, Utah, Josie Schmidt of Tucumcari and Linda Encinias of Belen, N.M., and one brother, Miguel Garcia of Belen.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Edward Ruben Garcia and Alex Lopez, a daughter, Roberta Serna, and two grandsons, Anthony Lopez and Julian Arias.
Leo Padget will officiate at the services.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Lopez, Brian Serna, Ralph Arias Jr., Eric Martinez, Eddie Roy Jimenez, and Matthew Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Garcia’s remaining grandchildren.

Burial will be at the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
