Next month, the official Quality Inn sign will be placed on its hotel at 3716 E. Tucumcari Boulevard, said Sarah Hittson, acting general manager.
The hotel/motel which was built in the 1960s as a Holiday Inn is entering a new stage as its old Holiday Inn franchisor trends toward hospitality units that are all under one roof.
Under new ownership, the 100-unit hotel has kept its staff of 45, said Hittson.
The new owners are Dilbag Singh of California and Harminder Sian of Albuquerque, who also operates a Ramada Inn and Best Western, said Hittson. The purchase of the motel was completed in late February and the purchase price was not disclosed, Hittson said.
Under the new ownership changes have included new furnishings in the dining room, new carpeting and new bedding for the rooms, she said.
Guests and visitors will notice the updates and “it’s going to be really nice,” said Hittson.
The restaurant, the Branding Iron, has retained its name and is still continuing its morning hours of operation from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. and its dinner hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Branding Iron Lounge is also retaining its evening hours from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., she said.
Operators of the Accents Southwest gift shop, Russell and Linda Braziel are also keeping their hours from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Hittson said.
