Top Dem to visit Tucumcari for listening session on Friday
Brian Colon, the newly elected chairman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, will be in Tucumcari next week for a luncheon as part of his Chairman’s Listening Tour.
The luncheon will be at noon Friday at K-Bob’s Restaurant, Estrella Street.

Trio competes at Greater Southwest Musical Festival
Matthew Trujillo, Jessyka Trujillo and Mary Trujillo, all of Tucumcari, placed competition at the recent 37th Greater Southwest Musical Festival in Amarillo.
Matthew played “Scherzo” by Martin Cuellar and received a I rating, or first place.
Jessyka played “Consolation” by Vandall and received a II rating, or second place.
Mary played “Snake Charmer” by Faber and received a II rating or second place.
The pianists are all students of Patricia Davidson of Tucumcari.

Rattler alum was keynoter at Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Jerónimo Domínguez, University of New Mexico vice provost of distance education, recently delivered the keynote address at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund luncheon.
At the event students from around the state received scholarship checks from the New Mexico Alliance for Hispanic Education, a non-profit providing financial support to Hispanic college students in New Mexico.
Domínguez, a 1966 graduate of Tucumcari High School, spoke to the audience of students, parents and educators about the significant role parents and family play in student success.
