Muriel Latham-Pfeifer, chair of the Mesalands Community College’s Board of Trustees announced her resignation Tuesday night at the regular board meeting.

Pfiefer’s resignation is effective today.

She cited personal reasons for her resignation and said she would be moving on Friday to Albuquerque.
Pfeifer served on the board for eight years, five years as chair.

Vice chair Jimmy Sandoval will assume the responsibilities of chair until a new member is appointed to serve on the board and the chair position is filled, said a MCC spokesman.

“Her academic credentials and experience have been an asset as the institution has gone through its transformation from a vocational school to an accredited college,” said Phillip Barry, president of Mesalands.
