Services: 12:30 p.m. (MDT) today funeral services will be conducted at the Logan United Methodist Church.
Jessie Evelyn “Bob” Alford of Nara Visa, 93, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, following and extended illness at Autumn Blessings in Logan where she had resided for the past year.
Mrs. Alford was born Sept. 12, 1913 near Nara Visa on the Kelly Ranch. She had received her Bachelor of Science degree in education with a minor in English from West Texas State University. She taught for 33 years in schools in Romero, Amistad and Corona and in Texas.
She had been a member of the United Methodist Church of Nara Visa and a member of the Nara Visa Garden Club and the Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi.
Surviving Mrs. Alford are three sons, Allen (Margie) Alford of Canyon, Texas, Rogene (Sandra) Alford of Corona and Tommy (Louise) Alford of Carlsbad, one daughter, Betty J. (Gary) Miller & husband of Roswell, and a daughter in law, Pat Alford of Portales. Also surviving are a brother Fred (Genevieve) Kelly of Erie Colo., a sister, June (Jack) McMeen and sisters in law, Louise Kelly all of Dalhart, Texas, and Esther Kelly of Sun City, Ariz., and 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandhcildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen “Bud” Alford in 1946; a son Clarence “Babe” Alford; a granddaughter Kelly Alford; her parents Jim and Bettie Kelly; brothers, Ernest, John, Jack, Tom and Billy Kelly; and sisters Irene”Ned” Willis, Lorene Proctor and Judy Welling.
T.C. Broom will officiate at the services
Pallbearers will be Ward Alford, Tommy Miller, Coby Alford, Scott Alford, Bobby Alford, Nathan Tracy, Russell Craig, Ryan Craig, Randal Craig, Shawn Brink and Mike Tracy. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken and Dell Willis and all staff members of the Autumn Blessing Assisted Living, Logan. Following the services, burial will be in the familiy plot at Nara Visa Cemetery, Nara Visa.
