The parents and children, both were enchanted by a puppet show at the Elk Lodge Thursday afternoon.
“I like dragons. I liked the show a lot,” said 5-year-old Tres Gallegos.
The puppet show is one of the Library’s Summer Reading program.
The show was performed by Markie Scholz, of Spearfish, S.D. founder of Dragons Are Too Seldom Puppet Co. Scholz started the company in 1971, and performed the puppet show entitled A Dragon Mystery: Legend of Istaban’s Gold.
“I have been doing this for 36 years and I have enjoyed every moment of it,” said Scholz. “It is wonderful to entertain the children and make the adults laugh as well.”
The show featured Zed the Dragon and his best friend Estelle the Mouse, who are called to Dragon Island to help solve a perplexing mystery, according to Scholz web release. Istaban the oldest and wisest-not to mention richest dragon on Dragon Island lost his gold and Estelle must solve the mystery of the missing gold, according to the release.
“We had a great turn out,” said librarian Dainetta Kroeker. “We are grateful to the Elk’s for the use of their facility.”
“It was a very good show,” said Joyce Runyan. “This is the third year she has come down and done it and my family always looks forward to it.”
