U.S. Rep. Tom Udall is seeking Congressional page applications for the 2007 autumn semester, according to a press release.
Pages are appointed for one semester, with the fall semester beginning Labor Day and concluding in late January.
“I am very pleased my office will have the opportunity to nominate a page,” said Udall in the release. “Pages have an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the legislative process and gain an insider’s perspective into the workings of the House of Representatives.”
To qualify as a nominee the prospective page must be a junior in high school, 16 years of age and possess a minimum 3.0 GPA in all major courses of study. Pages are required to attend the Page School at the U.S. Library of Congress in addition to their responsibilities as support staff in the House of Representatives. Pages live in the Page Residence Hall and receive a monthly salary. The Speaker’s office selects the pages and will only accept applications submitted by select Congressional offices.
Applications must be submitted to: Udall’s Santa Fe District office by hand or via e-mail no later than Monday, July 2 at 5 p.m. at 811 St. Michael’s Drive, Suite 104.
