John “Tommy” Thomas Garcia

Services: 7 p.m. Thursday a rosary will be recited at Holy Family Catholic Church in Albuquerque. At 9 a.m. Friday a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family.

John “Tommy” Thomas Garcia, 60, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Albuquerque.

Mr. Garcia was born in Tucumcari to John R. and Cornelia Garcia and was reared in Tucumcari.

He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 72 and was past commander and was lifelong member of VFW Post 6216.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his companion of 32 years, Carol Garcia, and their children, Tommy Garcia, Mary Garcia, Tamarra (Marcos) Baca, his grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Jude, Jade, Jonah and four other grandchildren, his children, Naomi Phillips, Madelina Garcia and Charles Garcia.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Frances (George) Moya, Richard (Jackie) Garcia, Bernard (Monica) Garcia, Liz Garcia, Helen (Raymond) Sisneros, Gene (Gracia) Garcia, Sandra Powell, David (Donna) Garcia, Michael Garcia, Frankie Garcia and Rosemary Garcia.

Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his father, John R. Garcia, a brother, Raymond Garcia, and a nephew, George Moya.
