Parents needed to provide foster care

There will be a free ice cream social Tuesday. The state’s Children, Youth and Families Department want you to get the scoop on foster and adoptive parenting, according to a press release.

It will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Tucumcari CYFD office at 107 W. Aber.

For the children, there will also be fun games, water balloons, bubbles and more. CYFD staff will be available to answer questions about foster/adoptive parenting.

Foster and adoptive parenting offers the chance to make a difference in the life of a New Mexico child. In Quay County, there are currently more than 45 children in protective custody with CYFD due to abuse and neglect in their home. Locally, there is an urgent need for more foster homes.
