The Quay County Commission approved two special county hospital gross receipts taxes to raise money for the Dan Trigg Hospital on Monday.
Quay County residents can vote on the proposed taxes at the polling booths in the fall.
The first tax is an extension of an existing tax at 1/8 of 1 percent and the second is a tax of 1/2 of 1 percent. The first generates about $170,000 annually and the second is projected to raise between $500,000 and $700,000 annually, said hospital administrator Matt Posinski.
Funds would be matched, 3-1, by federal monies.
The hospital’s needs include a new roof that will cost about $650,000, he said.
