John H. McCord

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Clayton.

John H. McCord, 52 died Monday, July 23, 2007, in Amarillo.

Mr. McCord was born on March 19, 1955 in Santa Fe to John E. McCord and Bettie L. (Anglin) McCord. He married Deborah Ann McUne on July, 4, 1985 in the Tecalote Valley outside of Las Vegas. Mr. McCord attended school in Santa Fe and Logan and was a 1973 graduate of Logan High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 through 1981 and was an electronics technician on the USS Butte. Mr. McCord moved to Las Vegas, in 1981 and operated an alarm and security business and took over his father’s printing company in 1987. In 1989 he moved the printing company to Clayton and he and his wife Debbie operated Jobe’s Press until 2006. Mr. McCord was a member of and past master of the Clayton Masonic Lodge. He was active in scouting and was scoutmaster of Clayton Boy Scout Troop 264 from 1994 through 2002. For the past several years he and his wife have been involved with the Clayton High School Drama Department and Clayton High School band boosters.

Mr. McCord is survived by his wife Debbie McCord of Clayton, parents John E. and Bettie McCord of Logan, one daughter Kathryn “Katty” McCord of Clayton, a son David A. (Jessica) McCord of Colorado Springs, Colo., two grandchildren Damian and Heaven McCord of Colorado Springs, one sister Margaret (Curt) Parkinson of Las Vegas and two nieces, Crystal Parkinson and Jennifer (Tyson) Parkinson and his great niece and nephews Judy and T.J. Parkinson and Andres Padilla.

Billy Rammage will officiate at the services.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
