The Rattlers Cross Country team will have a meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Rattler gym.

The meeting will be held to discuss the upcoming season and schedule of events.

Coach Gary Hittson is inviting all students in the Tucumcari Middle School and High School who are interested in participating in the 2007-2008 Rattler Cross Country team to attend.

“We only lost two seniors last year and are starting this year with a good core group,” said Hittson. “We had 13 people sign up last year and are hopeful that we will have 20 or more sign up for this year.”

Hittson will not be an assistant coach to the Rattlers football team this year. “It was hard coming in late from a football game and getting up early to get to a cross country event,” said Hittson.

The Rattlers will see some coaching changes. Hittson was named the head Varsity Girls Basketball coach and Bryan Dunlap will be the defensive line coach for the Rattlers Varsity Football Team.

Dunlap will still be a coach for the Junior Varsity Football team along with Eddie Encinias.

Both coaching positions were held last year by Tucumcari Schools athletic director Wayne Ferguson.
