The Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce, for the first time in over a year, has a full board of directors, according to a press release from the chamber. Several slots on the board have been vacant through attrition, the release said.
The nine member board consists of four newly elected members: John Everhart of Brian Urlacher Cross Country Car Sales; Sandy Mapes of Wells Fargo Bank; Ron Wilmot of the Tucumcari Convention Center; and Natalie Gillad of Mesalands Community College.
Also re-elected to serve another term was Carole Keith of Jim Keith Tools. The new members join remaining board members Debbie Lafferty (outgoing president) of Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital; Court Watson of Wells Fargo Bank; Gail Sanders of State Farm Insurance; and Dawson Higgins of The First National Bank.
On Tuesday the board elected new officers for the coming year. They are Keith, president; Sanders, first vice-president; and Watson, second vice-president, the release said.
“We’re really excited to have a full board,” said Keith.
Keith also said that, among her goals for the Chamber this coming year. is to see the word “commerce” stressed in importance, the release said. “The Chamber is here to serve its members and the majority of membership is made up of local businesses. We want to do more for our members by recognizing them and sending folks their way,” Keith stated.
