Services: 1 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner.
Anas Cleo Head, 106, a resident of Clovis for the past two years and a resident of Fort Sumner since 1948, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at the Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis.
Mrs. Head was born in Montague County, Texas, on July 18, 1901, the daughter of Thomas Walter Nail and Sarah Elizabeth Butler Nail. She was reared and attended school in Hollis, Okla.
She married David Elmer Head on July 26, 1930 in Harmon County, Okla. She and her husband farmed cotton. After they stopped farming cotton, they hauled hay for many years. She worked side by side with her husband as well as caring for family and home.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She drove herself faithfully every week to services in Melrose or Clovis well into her 90s, her family said. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, and visiting with friends and family, including many she would visit in the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1976, a son Emmit, four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Survivors include: three sons, Dwain Head of Tucumcari; Dub Head and his wife, Norma of Fort Sumner; Ray (Joan) Head of Chico, Calif.; one daughter, Isabell (Dee) Brown of Tucumcari, a daughter-in-law, Joan Head of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Cleon Nail of California; 14 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Robert Brown will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at the Fort Sumner Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Hendrix, David Head, Matt Daniels, C. J. Newman, Frankie Martz Clifford Gunn. Honorary pallbearers will be her many friends and family.
