08-25-2007: Police Blotter

The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department. According to reports:

Wednesday
l At 11:17 a.m., a male requested a welfare check on a female subject walking down South Monroe Street. An officer was told that the female was talking about suicide and was heading to the canal to jump in. The officer made contact with the female subject and placed her into protective custody at the Quay County Detention Center.
l At 4:30 p.m., a male reported a theft at a repair shop on West Route 66. An officer was told that a package had been delivered to the business and had been stolen.
l At 5:37 p.m., an alarm was reported at a bank on South Second Street. An officer advised that the building was secure.
l At 7:24 p.m., a male reported a dispute at a residence on North Adams Street. An officer advised that two neighbors had been arguing and the problem had been resolved.
l At 7:48 p.m., a male reported a domestic assault at a residence on South Fourth Street. An officer was told that a juvenile male had assaulted one of the family members. The officer located the juvenile and transported him to the Curry County Detention Center on the charge of battery and assault of a household member.
l At 10:11 p.m., a male reported a theft at a lounge on West Route 66. An officer was told that money was missing from the lounge. A male subject was arrested on the charge of embezzlement was taken to the Quay County Detention Center.

Thursday
l At 12:08 a.m., a male reported an irate customer at a restaurant on East Route 66. An officer advised that it was a dispute over a meal. The customer paid for the meal and was asked to leave.
l At 7:30 a.m., a female reported suspicious subjects on South Fifth Street. An officer was told that some juveniles were smoking narcotics in an abandoned house on Fifth Street. The officer made contact with one juvenile subject who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was released to a guardian.
l At 3:58 p.m., an officer served a warrant at the Magistrate Court on South Third Street. One female subject was arrested for receiving stolen property.
l At 4:03 p.m., a male reported an accident on South Jackson Street. An officer advised that a male subject had driven into a parked trailer. The male subject was taken to the ER and treated for injuries. When released from the ER, the male subject was taken to the Quay County Detention Center for driving under the influence and careless driving.

Friday
l At 6:50 a.m., a male reported a theft on South Lake Street. An officer advised that two vehicles had been broken into and a stereo, battery and battery cables had been taken.
l At 6:56 a.m., a male reported vandalism on South Fourth Street. An officer advised that a vehicle’s back tires had been slashed.
