This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good again this past week. Anglers did well using top water lures, senkos, tubes and jerk baits. Fishing was slow for other species but there were a few white bass and walleye caught by anglers trolling crank baits. Fishing for bluegill was slow-to-fair using worms.
Fishing picked up a bit this past week for anglers fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Anglers did well using top water lures, senkos, jerk baits, jigs and smallie beavers. There were a few catfish taken by anglers fishing at night and using liver and night crawlers. Fishing was slow for all other species.
Catches of the week
On Aug. 21, Bill Brantley of Canyon, caught a 3.19-pound smallmouth bass at Ute Lake. On Aug. 23, Pete May of Logan caught a 5-pound largemouth bass at Ute Lake. He was using a topwater lure.
