Mesalands fitness center moves

Special to the QCS

Work on the new addition to Building A on Mesalands Community College’s campus is just about completed, making it possible to move the Fitness Center from its location in Building C to the new location in the southwest corner of the new addition. But the move involves more than moving a few pieces of equipment to a new place. It also has initiated an enlarged facility with three separate components, with the enlarged Fitness Center being one of them. To introduce the community to this outstanding new facility, an Open House is scheduled for Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. Everyone is invited to the Open House.

Now called the Mesalands Community College Health and Wellness Facility, the new expanded facility includes the Fitness Center, Exercise Room, Weight Room, Locker Rooms with Showers and a hardwood exercise floor with balance rails. The facility features a new media system including six wall-mounted TVs with remote receivers on treadmills. Elliptical machines and bikes have also been added to the Fitness Center.
The facility now has a list of equipment including the following:
l Treadmills (6)
l Elliptical Machines (3)
l Stair Climber
l Rowing Machine
l Hoist Nautilus Units (2)
l Recumbent Bike
l Spinners (2)
l Free Weights
l Rock Climbing Wall
l Incline Bench
l Assisted Dip/Chin-Up
l Body by Jake Squat Machine

The Center is now under the direction of Jessica Elebario who has proposed some unique fitness courses like Weight Lifting for Seniors, Fitness Exercise for Seniors, Indoor Fitness Cycling, and Self-Defense

Conditioning Exercise. She is also willing to add other courses and invites suggestions from the public.

Mesalands Community College’s Fitness Center is available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing patrons to exercise around individual personal schedules.
