This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was fair-to-good this past week for anglers using senkos rigged whacky style, tubes, salt craws, Ricos and buzz baits. Fishing for white bass was fair for anglers trolling white, chartreuse and fire tiger crank baits. Fishing for catfish was fair for anglers fishing at night and using liver, cut bait and night crawlers. A few walleye were taken by anglers using bottom bouncer/night crawler rigs, jig and minnow combinations and crank baits.
White bass and walleye fishing picked up this past week. Anglers did well trolling Reef Runners and Wally Divers at 20-to-24 feet over 30-to-40 feet of water. They were working along the edges of the main river channel and keying on changes in the contour. Fishing for crappie was fair for anglers fishing at night and using small jigs and minnows. Fishing was fair using drop shot rigs, tubes, senkos, buzz baits and jerk baits for black bass. A few catfish were taken by anglers fishing at night and using liver and cut bait.
Catches of the week
On Aug. 30, Calvin Liles of Logan caught a 4.2-pound largemouth bass at Ute Lake. He was using a buzz bait.
