Rattlers take 7th at Melrose Tournament

The Tucumcari Lady Rattlers finished seventh in the Melrose Tournament.

The Lady Rattlers played the San Jon Lady Coyotes and lost in five sets during the final match Saturday at Melrose.

“The team improved and got a lot of quality experience from the tournament,” said Lady Rattlers coach Tony Alarcon.

“The matches were not dominated by one team and many of them went to five sets. We also had a chance to see Santa Rosa play at the tournament. We play them at home this Thursday,” Alarcon said.

Being able to see the Lady Lions in action before they come to Tucumcari is an advantage, Alarcon said.

“It’s going to be a good game against Santa Rosa. It will come down to which team makes the fewest mistakes.” Alarcon said.

“We have to take this opportunity to win at home. We have back-to-back home games with Santa Rosa and Texico then we are on the road for the rest of district play.”
