The annual auction on Tuesday was the best ever for the United Way of Quay County.
“We raised about $7,500,” Doyle Frasier, president of the United Way, said.
Things started moving slowly at first, but after the dinner hour more people showed up at Wells Fargo Bank, he said.
Tires were a hot auction item among bidders and garnered about $350, Frasier said.
“It went well,” Frasier said.
The auction’s headquarters were at the bank’s lobby, where volunteers manned phones and bid-by-bid updates were reported on KTMN radio.
Wells Fargo also gave the auction a boost when it handed over a $750 check to add to the tally.
Presenting the check to Frasier are, from left, Wells Fargo officials Sandy Mapes, store manager, and Patsy Gresham, district manager.
