The Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital Auxiliary members will begin their Season’s Greetings fund drive on Thursday.
The auxiliary, which has 28 members, has chalked up numerous hours of volunteer work this past year, said Evelyn Coughenour, Season Greetings, chairperson.
“One of our volunteer jobs is to greet people as they come to the hospital to visit or for lab work, X-rays or other tests,” she said.
The auxiliary’s funds raised from our Season’s Greetings and the snack and coke machines allow the group to purchase needed items of equipment.
“We have had a Season’s Greeting fund drive for over 40 years and have raised over $500,000, in the past years,” she said.
The Presbyterian Foundation has matched up to $10,000 over the the past few years, which doubles the amount the auxiliary can use to purchase equipment, Coughenour said.
Some of the items purchased include new beds for patient rooms, furniture for the lobby, mammography, X-ray, ICU and anesthesia equipment, a cardiac arrhythmia stimulator, an EKG stimulator, fetal monitor, paging system, blood pressure cuffs, Life Line Units, a range for the kitchen, floor cleaning machine, vital sign monitors and a security alert System.
This year the auxiliary voted to purchase several pieces of equipment, including 10 air-stretcher mattresses, two lift chairs, six CPR mannequins, several vital sign monitors, automatic defibralators and some kitchen equipment, Coughenour said.
“There are always more needs than money, and we do appreciate very much the people, clubs, and businesses here in Quay County that help us raise these funds,” she said.
The foundation will match every dollar we raise up to $10,000 and with the match the group hopes to raise $20,000.
So instead of sending Christmas cards to friends and relatives in Quay County, let the auxiliary do it for you with Season Greetings,” Coughenour said.
