Rattler girls take second place in cross country meet

The Tucumcari High School Rattler Varsity Cross Country team competed in the District 6-2A Cross Country meet in Santa Rosa Saturday.

The Rattler girls team captured second place, six points behind Pecos, and will compete today in Rio Rancho.

Freshman Lorri Harman finished in fourth place, senior Kaitlyn Romero in fifth place, freshman Kennetha Perkins in ninth place, freshman Holly Binkley 10th place, sophomore Lauren Chacon 11th place, freshman Lizzie Smith in 19th place and eighth-grader Kirsten Dunlap in 20th.

The Rattler boys team finished two points out of qualifying for state. Rattler senior Kenton Perkins finished the race in seventh place and senior Austin Sellers finished in 10th. They will compete individually at state.

Other Rattler boys cross country runners who competed Saturday were senior Michael Fazekas who finished in 15th , sophomore Chase Waters, eighth-grader Antonio Rodriquez, hunior Andrew Francis and freshman Daniel Garcia. Senior David Atwood and sophomore Casey Romero were unable to compete due to injuries.
