Ventura Baca

Services: At 7 p.m. Thursday a rosary will be recited at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari. At 10 a.m. Friday a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne’s.

Ventura Baca, 98, died at her residence in Tucumcari on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, following an extended illness.
 
Mrs. Baca was born July 14, 1909 at Rincon Bonita.  She had been an active member of the St. Anne’s Catholic Church and was the oldest member of Las Carmelita’s Society. She married Jose Adolfo Baca in Hereford, Texas, on July 19, 1928. They moved to Tucumcari in 1938. She was a member of the Senior Citizens for 16 years and participated in the Senior Olympics. She was also Senior Valentine Queen for several years.
 
Surviving Mrs. Baca are five daughters: Mary Stella (Delfino) Garcia of Tucumcari, Mary (J.D.) Elebario of Tucumcari,  Santana (Henry) Hernandez of Clovis, Johnnie Marie Santos of Tucumcari and Mary Porfidia Montano Trujillo of Clovis, four sons: Frank (Jana) Baca of Mulvane, Kan., Victor (Martha) Baca of Freedona, Kan., Jimmy (Alice) Baca of Eagles Nest and Leonard (Debbie) Baca of Mulvane, Kan. , 42 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and 46 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Condrado Martinez of Amarillo, Texas, and two sisters, Lupe Garcia and Donnie Duran both of Wichita, Kan. Also surviving are her adopted son and daughter Joe and Mickey Haun.

She was preceded in death by five children, her husband, Jose Baca, four brothers and two sisters.  

Leo Padget will be celebrant at the mass Pallbearers will be Celso Martinez, Kevin Baca, Billie Baca, Rick Duran, James Baca Jr.
and Anthony Baca. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Joe Haun, Albert Anaya, Brian Sherfield and Robert Santon.

Burial will be at the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
