12-08-2007: Police Bloter

The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department. According to reports:

Tuesday
l At 1:47 a.m., an officer reported vandalism at the Magistrate Court building on South Third Street. The officer advised that a window on the building had been busted out.
l At 2:24 p.m., a female reported a theft at a hotel on West Route 66. An officer was told that a saw had been stolen from a room.

Wednesday
l At 2:21 a.m., a male reported a suspicious vehicles at a hotel on South Adams Street. An officer was told that two vehicles had pulled into the parking lot and no one came inside. The officer made contact with the drivers of the vehicles and advised that all was OK. The drivers were together and were deciding on where to go.
l At 8:23 a.m., an officer reported vandalism at a retail business on West Route 66. An officer advised that a window on the front of a business had been broken.
l At 1:14 p.m., a male reported vandalism at an apartment on South Eighth Street. An officer advised that several outdoor Christmas decorations had been stolen.
l At 2:35 p.m., a male subject went into the police department on East Center Street to report a theft. The male subject told officers that a 30-gallon propane tank had been stolen from his residence on East Turner Street.
l At 3:34 p.m., a female reported a gas skip at a fuel station on South First Street. An officer was told that a driver of a vehicle had pumped $10 worth of gas and did not pay. The officer advised the vehicle could not be located.
l At 8:29 p.m., a female reported two suspicious subjects on East Rankin Street. An officer was told that two male subjects were sitting in front of a house and that the owner was not home. The officer made contact with the male subjects and advised that all was OK. They had been told by their sister to meet her there for a ride.
l At 9:45 p.m., a male reported a burglary at a residence on South Seventh Street. An officer was told that several items had been taken from the residence.

Thursday
l At 12:48 a.m., an alarm was reported at a fuel station on South First Street. An officer was told that a male subject had come in and stolen an 18-pack of beer.
l At 8:01 a.m., an officer served a warrant at a carwash on South Third Street. An officer requested a warrant check on a male subject at the car wash. The dispatcher told the officer that the male subject had an outstanding Municipal Court warrant. The male subject was arrested and taken to the Quay County Detention Center.
