Sports Notes: Rattler wrestlers compete in semifinals, Clayton edges out Rattlers by 1 point

Rattlers compete in today’s semifinals
On Friday, four Rattler wrestlers made it to today’s semifinals and one is in competition for third place at the state wrestling matches at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, according to coach Eddie Encinias.
The four, by weight division, are:
l Raymond Jimenez, 103
l Ryan Fought, 135
l Wesley Martinez, 152
l Leroy Sena, heavyweight.
Michael Fazekas, 130, will be competing for third place.
Matches for the Rattlers begin at 11 a.m. today.
Twelve members of the Rattlers wrestling team qualified for state.

Tucumcari loses two against Clayton
The Tucumcari Rattlers ended its regular season in a real nailbiter. The Rattlers lost, 60-59, to the Clayton Yellow Jackets on Friday in Clayton.
The Lady Rattlers also lost, 50-40, to the Clayton Yellow Jackets.
The Rattlers now begin their first round of district play.
The Rattlers play the Clayton Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tucumcari.
The Lady Rattlers and Yellow Jackets will meet again Monday at Clayton.
