Traffic on I-40 near Montoya will be reduced to one lane each way, state officials said Friday in a press release.

Beginning Monday, eastbound traffic on Interstate 40 near Montoya will be detoured to the westbound lanes, according to a press release from the state’s Department of Transportation District 4 and Fisher Sand & Gravel.

The east bound lanes near Montoya from mile post 308 to mile post 312 will be closed Monday through Friday for GRIP construction, the release said.
There will be a concrete wall barrier in place separating east bound and west bound traffic on I-40. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a 4-mile stretch.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed and slow down as they approach the detour and construction activities, the release said.
Speeding fines are doubled in the construction zone and will be enforced, the release stated.
