03-19-2008: Police Blotter

The following is a sample of calls received during the last few days by the central dispatch office for Quay County, based at the Tucumcari Police Department. According to reports:

Sunday
l At 1:47 a.m., a male called to report an unwanted vehicle in his driveway on East Rankin Street. The officer advised the subjects will move their vehicles.
l At 8:50 a.m., a female called to report a female juvenile that was walking around by herself on West Tucumcari Boulevard. The officer located the juvenile and said that the juvenile was staying at a nearby motel and that she was returned to her family.
l At 2 p.m., a caller reported that occupants of a vehicle were selling items out of their vehicle and blocking the gas pumps at a convenience store on South First Street. The officer advised that they had left the convenience store before the officer’s arrival.
l At 3:01 p.m., several callers reported a grass fire near the intersection of Maple and Rock Island. City fire units responded and the fire was contained.

Monday
l At 12:20 a.m., a caller requested a check on a suspicious vehicle on West Mesta Vista. The officer advised all was OK. A subject gave a friend a ride home.
l At 1:15 a.m., a caller said there was a loud noise in a neighboring apartment on First Street. The officer advised that it was a toddler walking around.
l At 6:33 a.m., several callers reported that a clerk was missing from a motel on East Tucumcari Boulevard. The officer advised that the clerk was asleep in one of the rooms. Everything was OK.
l At 12:09 p.m., an accident was reported at a convenience store on South First Street. The officer advised that the drivers exchanged auto insurance and other information.
l At 6:12 p.m., an officer found an abandoned trailer with one tire in the middle of Cemetery Road. The officer contacted a towing company to remove the trailer.
l At 7:27 p.m., a caller reported that a male subject was riding a go-kart on South Sixth Street. When the officer arrived at South Sixth Street, the rider and go-kart could not be located.
l At 8:52 p.m., a male came to the police department to report two stolen bicycles. The male reported to officers that two bikes were stolen from the city building on Laughlin Avenue.
l At 9:26 p.m., a female reported that an unwanted male subject was at a South Jackson residence. The officer advised the male subject not to return to the residence. The male subject said he had no plans to return again.
