A 54-year-old man wanted in connection with gas thefts in Grady turned himself in to authorities Friday, according to Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

Robert “Bobby” L. Daniel turned himself in at the sheriff’s department around 1:30 p.m., Waller said.

Daniel is accused of stealing a total of 465 gallons of gas on three separate occasions between Jan. 17 and March 5 from a self-serve station owned by Red Rock Oil Co. of Clovis.

He is also accused of destroying equipment at the fueling station off of N.M. 209.

A warrant for his arrest was issued Monday, according to court records.

In March, Red Rock Oil owner Darrell Cook said he reluctantly shut operations in Grady because of thefts and vandalism.

Cook said in four incidents over a month’s time, more than 800 gallons of fuel was stolen and his equipment sustained more than $30,000 in damage.
