This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was good again this past week. Anglers did best using tubes, senkos, crank baits, jerk baits, lizards and top water lures. Most of the bass caught were small and were taken in less than 8 feet of water. Fishing for crappie was good for anglers using minnows, tubes and jigs. Walleye fishing picked up some this past week as anglers reported doing fairly well near Rattlesnake Island and on the north side of the lake. Best baits were crank baits, tubes and grubs. Fishing for catfish was good using liver, dough baits and night crawlers. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms. We had no reports on other species.
Crappie fishing continued to be quite good this past week. Anglers did well using minnows, jigs and small tubes. Most of the crappie were in less than 10 feet of water. Fishing was very good using liver, night crawlers, dough baits and minnows in shallow water for catfish. Fishing was fair-to-good using spinner baits, jigs and tubes for largemouth and smallmouth bass. A few bass were also taken on top water lures. Fishing was slow-to-fair trolling deep running crank baits and drifting minnows for walleye. Most of the walleye action was reported up the Canadian arm of the lake.
