A New Mexico State Parks worker was injured Friday afternoon in Logan while working on a nature trail at Ute Lake State Park, a Parks official said.

Rex Stahl was operating a small front end skid loader on a nature trail at 3:55 p.m. when it went off the trail, said Dannie Jones, State Parks marketing director.

Stahl was transported to Dan Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari and then airlifted to Northwest Hospital in Amarillo, Jones said.
“He is in serious, but stable condition,” Jones said.

“Stahl is a highly valued member of the State Parks family. All of the members of the State Parks from Ute Lake who work with Stahl are with him at the hospital,” Jones said.

Stahl has worked for the State Parks about seven years, and is chief of the Logan Volunteer Fire Department.

The Logan Police Department is investigating the accident, she said.
