Mother Road Rally, Inc. has selected a new slate of officers. The new board members are: President Tracy Rascoe, Treasurer Jean Morency. Serving on the board are John Everhart, and Brent Byrd.
All board members serve without compensation and represent a wide range of motorcycling and organizational experience, Rascoe said.
MRR, a non-profit organization, was formed in 2003 to organize a motorcycle rally to bring people to Tucumcari. The funds generated were originally designated and donated to a project to restore Five Mile Park.
MRR has changed its focus to support area youth groups, Rascoe said. Donations from MRR to youth groups have totaled more than $11,000, including 2008 donations to the Outdoor Classroom and Youth Soccer League, Rascoe said.
Previous donations from rallies have supported the Tucumcari High School FFA and Wrestling Team, Logan and House cheerleaders, the Outdoor Classroom and the Quay County Little League.
Five-year board member and former treasurer, Jim Hudson, said the change in leadership will rejuvenate the organization. “The new board members are enthusiastic and have a lot of new ideas. The former board members will still be involved to answer questions and offer advice if needed,” Hudson said.
