Two Tucumcari men were arrested, and another who is considered armed and dangerous is being sought by police in connection with a shooting that occurred Thursday, according to a press release from Tucumcari Police Chief Roger Hatcher.
“The victim sustained blows from a baseball bat, two gunshot wounds to the left arm and a small stab wound to the abdomen,” the release said. “The victim was able to get back into his vehicle and depart the area. His girlfriend and baby son were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.”
Police were called to the Arthur Jimez Park on Thursday evening because of a reported fight in progress, but when they arrived the park was vacant. Soon after, police were notified there was a shooting victim in the emergency room at Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital, the release said.
The victim was not identified by police.
Daniel Garcia, 19, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Quay County Detention Center on $10,500 bond, the release said.
Freddie Beltran, 19, was arrested Saturday by state and local police on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. Beltran is being held in the Quay County Detention Center, the release said.
Also wanted in connection with the incident is Nikko Nathan, 19. Nathan is wanted on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the release said.
A reward is being offered for assistance in the apprehension of Nathan who is considered armed and dangerous, the release said.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Nathan are asked to contact the Tucumcari Police Department at 461-2160, Tucumcari Crime Stoppers at 461-3507 or any local police agency, the release said.
