Clint Harden is returning to state Senate in an otherwise slow night for Curry County representation.
As of 11:15 p.m., state election totals show Harden winning 67.7 percent of the vote over Eagles Nest teacher Jeff Carr. Vote totals were 7,304-3,482 in favor of Harden.
“I’m pleased and satisfied,” Harden said. “The counties I represent have said I’ve represented well enough to serve them for the next four years.
“As near as I can tell, the only county I lost in my seven-county area (was Colfax). That’s a whole lot better than I did the last election cycle.”
In Quay County, Harden captured 2,181 votes compared to Democratic candidate Carr who had 1,651 votes.
In the Congressional races, Democrats will be representing Quay County.
