About 66 percent of all eligible voters cast their ballots on Tuesday, said Quay County Clerk Ellen White.
“It’s the most I’ve seen,” said White, who has been clerk since 2004.
Of the 6,125 eligible voters, 4,021 voted, White said.
In the 2004 general election, the countywide turnout was 47 percent of the 6,241 registered voters, White said.
White who also in the running, although unopposed garnered 3,001 votes.
Votes will be verified at the 9 a.m. Friday Quay County Commission meeting at the Quay County Courthouse, White said.
There are seven provisional votes that will have to be examined because voters cast their ballots in districts other than their own, White said.
