A hearing for the owner of the Sands Dorsey Building will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 24, the Tucumcari City Commission said Thursday night.
The building’s owner Bob Hengstenberg had requested the hearing to oppose a recommended demolition of the building.
An engineering firm recommended demolition after conducting an environmental survey of the damaged building. The Sands Dorsey was a victim of a fire in June 2007.
The city has placed a $7,000 lien on the property to cover costs of putting up a fence up around the property. City manager John Sutherland has said another lien may be placed on the property to cover the $68,000 in engineering costs by WHPacific of Albuquerque.
On other matters, the commission:
• Approved an expenditure by Lodgers Tax Board for Christmas banners for light poles along Route 66.
