Holiday cooking warms up family ties

During the holiday season many families look for ways to bring them closer together, from decorating the house or tree, to caroling or cooking up a holiday feast or treats.

Cooking with family can provide many opportunities for bonding and sharing , said Nelda Burson of Tucumcari who works at the Quay County Clerk’s office.

For Burson, holidays meant getting up and cooking with her mother and grandmother who both knew their recipes by heart.

“My mother and grandmother never used a cook book unless they were cooking something fancy,” Burson said.
