Birthday, marriage announcement, graduation and honors

Just turned one…
Kamren Apodaca of Tucumcari celebrated his first birthday Saturday at the Pizza Hut with family and friends. He is the son of April Apodaca and his grandparents are Juan and Susan Apodaca of Tucumcari.

Getting married…
Mikaela, Jacee, Hannah, Kamber, Ally and Sadie would like to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their parents, Anna Colette Mapes to Anthony Albert Lawrence of Trinidad, Colo. Colette is the daughter of Charley and Sandy Mapes of Logan. The grandparents of the bride-elect are Jim and Irene Payne of Logan. Anthony is the son of Tony and Janet Lawrence of Logan. The grandparents of the prospective groom are the late Albert and Jesse Lawrence, the late Wilma Carpenter and Floyd and Roxanna Carpenter of Logan. The couple will be wed March 20 at their home in Trinidad.

Just graduated…
Josette Rey, daughter of Joe and Clara Rey, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Science with a minor in Psychology in December from the University of New Mexico. She graduated cum laude. She is the granddaughter of Pete and Angie Gonzales of Tucumcari and Joe Rey and the late Virginia Rey of Albuquerque.

Dean’s list…
Josh Saville, a 2008 graduate of San Jon High School, was selected for the Dean’s list of the College of Engineering and Applied Science for the fall semester at the University of Colorado in Boulder (3.6 g.p.a. or better). Josh was also inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the honor society for high-achieving first and second year students. Membership in the society is for honor students who are in the top 20 percent of their class with a 3.4 g.p.a..or better. Josh, who is attending the university on full scholarships, is the son of Glenda Garcia. His brother is Brandon Saville and his grandparents are Robert and Nea Garcia. Josh’s family is very proud of his accomplishments, said his mom, Glenda Garcia.
