04-15-09: Fishing Report

This fishing report has been generated from the best information available from officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, however, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Conchas Lake
Fishing for white bass was fair using crank baits and grubs. Fishing was fair using senkos, worms, chigger craws, jerk baits and sweet beavers for smallmouth and largemouth bass. A few walleye were taken on minnows, crank baits abd grubs. A few catfish were taken by anglers using stink bait.

Ute Lake
Fishing was good using minnows and jig and minnow combinations at depth of 10-to-12 feet for walleye. Fishing was good using jigs and jerk baits in less than 10 feet of water for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using minnows and small jigs for crappie. Fishing was fair-to-good using stink bait and cut bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using jigs, minnows, crank baits and grubs for white bass.

At Conchas Lake, on April 12, Jermaine Jones, stationed at Alamagordo, caught a 4.65 pound largemouth bass
