Three Quay County students have received the Tucumcari Rotary Club Quay County Continuing Education Scholarships.

Johanna Albright of Logan, David Kneitz of San Jon and Adrian Prieto of Tucumcari will each receive $750 in financial aid for the college of their choice.

Albright said she plans to attend the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque, pursuing a degree in communications and journalism.

“I have always wanted to be a writer,” Albright said. “I thought it would be a great idea to start out as a journalist and see the world. Then concentrate on writing novels.”

The Tucumcari Rotary Club created the Continuing Education Scholarship for the youth of Quay County from funds generated by the Annual Air show, said Diane Morency, Rotary board member.

“The program demonstrates the Rotary Club’s concern for the development of Quay County youth,” Morency said.

Louise Frazier of Logan received a $2,000 scholarship from the Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio Foundation.

Frazier said she plans to attend New Mexico State University at Las Cruces and pursue an education in radiology specializing in sonography (Ultrasound).

“I have always been fascinated with radiology,” Frazier said. “Ultrasound peeked my interest and it is a field that I would like to work in.”

“The Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio Foundation is very pleased to award Louise Frazier with $2,000 in financial aid for college. We reviewed hundreds of applications from high school seniors throughout the state and Louise was awarded the Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio Scholarship based on grade point average, financial need, personal recommendations, and personal goals,” said Amador Sanchez, spokesperson for the Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio Foundation.
