TeamBuilders set to host basketball tourney June 27

TeamBuilders Counseling Services is launching its first annual basketball tournament from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 27 at the Tucumcari Recreation Center, according to a press release.

“We’re doing this to raise money for a great cause and it’s also a community, family-type activity, bringing everyone together for fun and entertainment,” said Lesa Salvador TeamBuilders Counseling Services Program Coordinator, in the release.

Proceeds from the tournament, which is open to the public, will benefit TeamBuilders Counseling Services’ programs and their outreach to the children in the communities they serve, the release said. Teambuilders is a statewide non-profit agency that provides behavioral health services to children, teens and their families.

Here are the tournament specifics:
l All players must be 13 to 18 years of age to participate in the 3-on-3 tournament, which will have both a girls’ and boys’ bracket.
l Team registration is $10. Deadline for team registration is June 24.
l The winning team of the tournament will receive a $75 cash prize.
l The tournament will also feature shooting contests: free throw wins $10, three-point shot wins $20, or a half court shot wins $50, the release said.
l Spectators are admitted free with a donation of canned food items which will be donated to the Tucumcari VFW Ladies Auxiliary to provide for those in need.
